From the recordings You and I and Gypsy Heart
Lyrics Rita Miller
Vocals by Rita Miller
Music by Tawmy
Gypsy Heart © 1987 Rita Miller
Song written and composed by Rita Miller
Vocals by Lady Rita Miller and arrangement / performance / production by Tawmy on this original 4 track demo.
The song was considered, and almost made it on to the Stevie Nicks album 'The Other Side of The Mirror" , but a change of producers made a song list change ... so we were told by our publisher at the time.
The newest version is still Rita's song however Tawmy reworked it completely and used his own vocals as Rita has lost her voice. If anyone finds it, please see contact page.

Lyrics
GYPSY HEART
I close my eyes
But sleep it doesn't come to me
I live all day in chains
And wait for dreams to set me free
Well the nightbird
Has long since given up her song
There's a shadow on the moon
And the stars have all gone
Well you say baby, baby
You have a gypsy heart
You live in fantasy
Just a sorcerer in the dark
You only hear those sad songs
As if your tears will set you free
But don't cry baby
Don't waste your tears on me
Well have you heard the nightbird
Or been haunted by a song?
Have you danced out in the rain
Or cried when the rainbow's gone?
Have you watched a gypsy heart
Chase her shadow in the sun?
Have you ever loved someone
Really loved someone?
When I'm alone
I have this picture that I keep
Close to my heart
Where the secrets lie asleep
Close to my gypsy heart
Like a promise to be free
Well I've seen all your photographs
And none of them are me
So blame my gypsy heart
For taking me away
Blame it on the moon
Or on the words we never say
And we'll dance around these feelings
So our sorrow never shows
Like a moth into the fire
Like a thorn surrounds a rose
Well have you heard the nightbird
Or been haunted by a song?
Have you danced out in the rain
Or cried when the rainbow's gone?
Have you watched a gypsy heart
Chase her shadow in the sun?
Have you ever loved someone
Really loved someone?
